72) Straits Settlements - George V (1910 - 1936)

George V Straits coins are more easier to be found particularly 1920 50 Cents, and some common date 20 cents, 10 cents, but Dollar is a bit uncommon although not difficult compare to Edward VII 1903 incused B and 1904. Usually Dollar of George V are in high grade due to less circulated compare to 20 cents and 10 cents, or lower denomination.

However, there are some difficult date coins. For dollar, 1919 is far more difficult to find than 1920. And for Proof restrike (circa 1925), usually 1920 is easier than 1919. 1925 and 1926 coins (both business strike and proof strike) are pattern i do believe. That's not for circulation. Both are extremely rare. If you could get one you are very lucky, and you need to pay more than RM40,000

50 cents 1920 dot is one of the toughest coin in KGV series (I failed to get it twice, one in 2009, another in 2011).

For lower denomination, 20 cents, the earlier date 1916B is the key date and if you would collect a nice example, EF or above is desirable. For common date, you should collect at at least mint-state (or Uncirculated) condition. 1927 and 1935 you should collect with at least choice uncirculated condition because it's easy to be obtained.

For 10 cents, 1920 is the key date and rare in mint-state condition. Therefore, EF is good enough to improve your Straits collection for this date. For 1916, 1917, 1918 and 1919, AU to UNC is better for your collection, and common date 1926 and 1927, you should collect at least in choice uncirculated. Preferable Gem.

For 5 cents, 1920 perhaps is one of the toughest to get amongst KGV Straits series especially in high grade.

Enjoy pictures.
