Spanish colony, Mexico. Fernando VI, King of Spain (1746-1759), Silver 8 Reales. Milled columnario type. 27g. Ciudad de México mint; Manuel de León and Manuel Assorín, assayers. Dated 1755Mo MM. [Rosette] FERDND · VI · D · G · HISPAN · ET IND · REX, crowned abbreviated royal coat-of-arms; ·/M/M/(rosette) to left, (rosette)/8/(rosette) to right / (rosette) VTRAQUE VNUM ([He made them] both one) (rosette), crowned western and eastern hemispheres; to right and left, crowned composite column with encircling banner inscribed PLUS VLT(RA) (further beyond); all set on ground rising out of ocean waves; in exergue, mintmark and rosette on either side of 1755.
